First, than you for all the great advice you give. It is very much appreciated.

I have error code F1 E2 on my Whirlpool range. I see from the list this means the ERC needs to be replaced. Do you know if this model has botht he ERC and touchpad as 1 assembly? I had read that some models have htis as 1 assembly which means both get replaced and there is no need to test to see if it is the touchpad or ERC which is the problem.
Is this repair something I or my semi handy husband can do ourself?

Just a Control (ERC), take a look at Item 12 in Section 2.
Click on the picture and it will give a larger view.

I guess the operative word here is "semi".
I can see no reason why not, the manual should help.
Just take your time and remember to unplug the unit while working on it!!

First, I would try removing power from the unit for half an hour or so and retrying it.
Sometimes electronics can hang up and removing power will reset them.
