I purchased a Kenmore double door (w/ice maker and water dispenser)
refrigerator in 2004. Lately, it has been making a da, da, da, da, da, noise,
off (3 or 4 times per day)and on, usually late at night or early a.m
hours and for only a few seconds (up to 30)each time. The noise coincides
with the water dispenser dispersing water irregularly. The noise stops
and the water returns to normal when I open the refrigerator side
door, not the freezer side. My filter is about 4 months old. Could this be
a filter problem causing this?

Did you remove a couple of gallons of water (through the dispenser) after you replaced the filter last time? Sounds like there is an air inside the system.

For more accurate advise I need the complete model number of the fridge.

Gene:

Thank you for your reply. I removed only 5 or 6 full glasses of water before I started using it. Model number is Kenmore 10644109300.

Bob,

Remove more water and check the water tank (on the bottom in the fresh food compartment) for any small crack.

Thanks Gene for all of your help. I removed more water. It seems to be working fine now.

I'm glad you were able to fix it.
