Hi,
First time poster. I have an AMANA Range Model: AGR5735QDB that will not keep a constant temp. It took 35 min. to cook a frozen pizza last nite. I replaced the igniter 7 mo. ago, so it's likely not that. My question is, is the oven temp controlled by the "oven sensor kit"? If so, that looks easy enough to replace, is it?
Any help appreciated. This cursed stove is less than 3 years old. Doesn't anyone make anything that lasts anymore? I think the part # I need is PS46172.
Thanks in advance.
Jim

Jim Hi Jim, Before making any decision I need you to measure the oven temperature. Place the regular oven thermometer in the middle of the oven, set the temperature control for 350° and wait at least 15 minutes after the oven preheated. Post the result, please. Gene.

Hi Gene, It's varying between 297-307, but occasionally will dip to as low as 237. It's just not staying consistent at all. Thanks in advance for any advice. Jim

Hi Jim, There are two suspects of the failure: the oven temperature sensor and the control board. The first thing I would check is the oven temperature sensor resistance at the control board. Remove the sensor plug from the board and measure the resistance across the sensor wires. It suppose to be about 1100 Ohms at the room temperature. If the reading is right then the control board has to be replaced. If the reading is wrong then pull the range, remove the rear cover and measure the sensor resistance at the sensor plug (where it's coming through the wall). I would recommend to eliminate the sensor plug and hardwire it using a high temperature porcelain wire nuts to ensure proper connection. If the reading is wrong then replace the sensor. If the reading is right then check the wires and the plug connection at the control board. - The part number for the oven temperature sensor is AP204835 - The part number for the high temperature porcelain wire nuts is AP3440522 - The part number for the control board is AP3503544 Gene.

Gene,
Thanks for the recommendations. Being a bit of a novice, I may just replace the sensor (the $40.00 route) and see if that fixes the problem. If it's a control board, that's expensive and then the fine folks at Amana will hear from me!
Thanks again.
Jim

Hi again,
FYI, I replaced the sensor, and the oven, though a few degrees hot, is at least maintaining a constant temp again. Thanks for your help/advice!
Jim
