I am in need of some help. I am working on my mother inlaw's hotpoint washer mod. HTWP1400F1WW. The complaint is it will not spin in any spin cycle. It has an inverter type motor and a magnetic lid switch. The inverter motor has a diagnostic light that blinks 1 second on and 1 second off idicating normal operation. The door switch ohms out from the cord end to the motor and the meter goes on and off when lifting the lid and closing it.

I made the mistake of actually paying for advice on justanswer.com and they told me the motor was bad. The mechanic insisted that the lack of trouble code did not matter and it had to be the motor or the inverter. I asked for a second opinion and got the same answer. The diagnosis made no sense and they could not provide any test procedure to verify. Like an idiot I purchased a new motor with inverter and installed it to have the exact same problem with no change. I am now deep into a six year old washer for too much money and am clueless as to what to check from here?

I found a wire diagram along with an error code list behind the control panel. If I am reading it correctly it shows a chart of the control plug and states that there should be line voltage between neutral and pin 5 to the motor while in spin cycle. I test it and it has line voltage there no matter what cycle it is in? Even in the off position. I removed the control and opened it up and all the contacts look new. I can find nothing physically wrong with the main control.

I am kind of desperate at this point as there isn't even an appliance repair person in my area to call. If anyone has some ideas as to what to check I would really appreciate some guidance.

Thanks,

Jeff K.
