removing covers from a Hotpoint Washing Machine

I've taken apart many a washer, but this one doesn't seem to fall for the same tricks as others. I have the exploded picture, but cannot find the secret sequence to actually take the top or front cover off.
It's probably like one of those wooden puzzles, where you slide the doohickey first, then squeeze the dinglebob, and push the hidden flugeldinger.
I just can't figure it out for this particular model. Can anyone help? I'm doing this for an elderly neighbor who calls me to fix things for her.
Thanks,
Rus

Get a putty knife, at the top of the front cover ( that gap between the front panel and lid assembly) are 2 spring clips that hold the front panel on. Find the spring clips, about 2-3 inches in from the side. push your putty knife in there on both sides, and the front panel comes right off

My moms washer was leaking for the longest time and just moved back in her house to help her out . Washer was leaking only on the Spin Cycle...Everything else worked fine. Popped the lid like Cheetohman said and wah-lah.... found the hole where a plug used to go...plugged it Butyl Rubber caulking and will see if this does the trick...Thanks for telling how to pop the lid Cheetoh...... Saved me alot of aggravation. Dano15022
