Is it worth the risk to buy an upright freezer with this problem? Is there a likely culprit and would it be a relatively simple fix? It is a 20 cu ft upright with model number WZF79R20DW0G?

Seller says "Keeps throwing itself into defrost mode. Don’t know how to fix it"

It really depends on what the freezer is doing. It could be the compressor is failing to start or it could be a problem with the electronic control. They are not cheap. I'd look for something else. Unless the price is $0 and you want something to work on.
