I have an old Maytag LAT3914AAE washer. The agitator is working intermittently and seems to get "stuck" which then is causing the motor to overheat and produce a burning smell. The switch seems to be working and I was able to test by taking a flat head screwdriver and activating the switch while keeping the lid open. That's how I was able to see that the agitator is only working sometimes. The washer seems to spin just fine on the spin cycle. I have recently replaced both the pump and drive belt. Please help me! I really, really don't want to buy a new washer!
