Hello When I plug in the Freezer, I wont start, no noise at all. I replace the timer, no luck. I bought what I thought was the relay for the Embraco EM55HNR compressor but it doesnt appear its the correct one. Any ideas what to do next? Do I buy a 3 in 1 starter? I cant find any good info online or videos to troubleshoot it.

If the inside fan is not running, the compressor probably isn't getting power either.

Check the thermostat and see if its completing the circuit.

That worked I jumped the thermostat and it worked, now I looked up the part # for the thermostat and it seems they dont make it any longer but I saw some universal ones on Amazon. Could you recommend a replacement one for this, I not worried about exact fitment, I can drill a new hole for the control knob, I just want to find one that will work mechanically for this upright freezer. The model of the thermostat is a model 216303500.

Thanks for your help.

Will this one work?

The one you picked from Amazon is for a refrigerator, not a freezer. The temperature range would be too high. You need one for a freezer, low temp.

How does the little tube from the cold control attach to the coils in the freezer?

If you could get a couple of pictures of that it would help.

In the past I have used a universal thermostat like the Ranco K-401 to replace some cold controls. Its temperature range is -22 F to -2 F. Its a direct sensing type and connects to the evaporator tubing to sense the temperature of the freon.

The other type of cold control / thermostat is the air sensing kind. That's what most refrigerators have. Its mostly for temperatures above freezing.

If you go to Epay (i have to change the B here or this site will block it) and search Ranco K-401 there are some available . They have a lot of different mounting plates and many option on shaft type, to fit different knobs. It might be what you need.
