Hi,

Had to replace my dryer motor with a new motor (W10410996), and having extreme difficulty in putting back the original motor clamp/clip in front of the pulley.

Can only get one side on, but the other side won't hook in. No matter if I hit it straight down or at an inwards angle. Spent hours already. Something so simple can't take this long...

Maytag Performa Dryer PYE2300AYW
Motor retaining clamp/clip Part WP660658

Should I have ordered a new clamp? It looks exactly like the same as the original. Is there a new design so it hooks it easier for the other side?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Make sure the clamp or the motor mount aren't bent. Here is a video. The important part starts at 3:30.

Thanks for the response.

Finally resolved the issue after buying a new clamp, and tried it on. Didn't fit either so looked at the mount closely, and realized there is a little round notch in the middle of mount bracket.

Looked at the rubber gasket of the motor and it has a male round notch that should line up to the round notch on the mount bracket. Once motor was repositioned on the mount with the round notches matching up, the clamp installed onto the other ear with no issue.

So the little notch does make a difference in whether the clamp will hook onto the other ear. Hope this helps the next guy.
