Greetings, I have a Whirlpool side by side fridge that when it is on, both sides get cold and the ice maker in the freezer works and will make a bunch of ice. But, unless I am around to reset the temperature control for the fridge by turning it way down then turning it up again so it will kick in again several times a day IT WILL STAY OFF. I have replaced the control board with a identical unit (see attached) and still same thing. The condenser DOES NOT get iced over either to the best of my knowledge as there is never any water in the bottom of the freezer. This problem has been going on for over six months. ALSO, strange enough it seems Whirlpool has no record of this model (see attached) unless I am entering the number wrong. ...PLEASE HELP... I bet it is your thermostat that is bad. They do things like that sometimes when they go bad. They either stick in the off position or the on position. The part number is #2198202 Whirlpool WP2198202 Cold Control - AppliancePartsPros.comI think the model number on your fridge is wrong. I believe the X and the M are reversed. Anyway most of these refrigerators took the same thermostat. This place is about $20 cheaper than $ears.
