the lights stay on but when you open the door the temp is off. so i unplug and plug back in and it turns back on.

What the compressor doing at this time?

When you said "when you open the door the temp is off", did you mean just the display or the real temperature inside?
If you mean just the display, then the compressor should run normally.
If the temperature inside was wrong, then the compressor should not run at that time.

I had a guy from work come look at it and he stated he didn't hear the comprosor come on. Also the fan, I guess to cool the fridge. He stated something about some kind of swith or something on the back panel. At this time it doesn't come on anymore. He said I should just by a new fridge. I really don't know. A company said ther would come by and look at it but it would be a $70 for the first 30 min. So I don't know.

Both of them. I had been able to unplug and plug back in and it would turn back on. But now it does not come on at all. So its not cooling anymore.

I would replace the control board (#23 on the diagram). This control board controls all functions in the refrigerator. - The control board Part number: AP3965511

This is to Gene I had someone come look at my fridge and they said it was the pcp control panel. They said it would be $400. to fix it. The part you mentioned to me is that the same thing? Please let me know, thank you.
