I have a whirlpool fridge that has a bad thermostat. Part number 2315562. I have had this part on backorder for 1 month and was told today that the manufacturer will not be shipping these until May 1st. With that said I was hoping to make a temporary fix. My question is.... Can I just take an available more common t-stat (2198202) and utilize it in the correct t-stats location?
I do realize that the cosmetics wont match. I do realize that this may have to just be temporarily plastic tied to some sort of fastener. But I also realize that a t-stats primary job is to just connect and regulate two wires touching each other. Any reason this wont work? They are both 120/240volts! Many thanks in avance!
