This has been a good washing machine. Today, a medium size load did not drain or spin. Hand dipped all the water out, removed the clothes, drained the machine and checked the impeller. Nuttin'. Added two wet but not soaking hand towels. Set the machine to spin only and it did what it was supposed to. Added two bath towels that WERE soaking and set for spin only. The machine cycled like it wanted to spin, but never actually got around to spinning consistently. Is this the drain pump? Like the machine stopped spinning because the water wasn't being removed by the pump?

Thanks for any help you can provide....especially since it's Christmas weekend!

So I replaced the drain pump and all was well with a small load - the spin cycle ran fine and the load was (relatively) dry when it stopped. Ran another full size load and everything was fine right up to the spin cycle. It never reached full speed. It would power up, slow down, then power up again.

Any ideas?
