Hi there,

My second-hand fridge is sick. Symptoms:

-freezer is operational, but the fridge isn't cooling properly
-side of the fridge appears to be overheating
-the defrost timer was just replaced two months ago (but I'm not sure if it's still working properly--it appears to be working properly?)
-the freezer coils are ice-free, the back of the fridge is clean, and the evaporator fan is running properly
-and finally, there appears to be a mass of melted wires in the back of the freezer (should I be concerned about this? I'm thinking probably)

The model is a Whirlpool B28DMCSWQN/WAU.

There's no point in calling in a repair person, since the cost of call-out is about the same as I paid for the fridge. I'm thinking it makes the most sense just to replace the entire fridge. However, if there's a way that I can fix it myself, that would be best!

Any help would be appreciated!

I'm not sure if the photos of the melted wires can be view properly. If not, they can be found here:
