no matter where my start knob is in the cycle the washer will only agitate. I have already changed the timer and it still agitates and does not fill. After a short time of agitating the washer will start spraying water like it is going into a rinse cycle. Any suggestions????

Hickman, a couple of "easy" checks to make, make sure the drain pipe is at least 38 inches high from the floor level. Then check the lid switch Part number: AP3180933
. If the drain pipe is too low, the washer will "syphon" the water out and the washer will fill and wash until the water level is reduced and will repeat the process continuously. Since the motor runs and agitates, the motor and timer are not likely to be at fault. But if the lid switch isn't closed and making contact, the circuit for the drain/spin cycles won't be completed and the washer wont perform when the drain cycle is reached.
