The dryer shuts off on both timed and moisture sensing settings, it will not immediately re-start but will after a few minutes.


I have checked the vent and it is clear with a lot of air flow.
I have taken the dryer apart, removed drum and vacuumed everything I can. Drum and motor turns fine and does not make any noise.

Does this sound like a bad motor or are there any other sensors that would shut it off?

Sounds like a bad motor for sure. When it cuts itself off the motor would probably be extremely hot and possibly even smell burnt (electrical smell).

Just kicked off again and the motor is very hot, hot enough to burn your finger so that must be it.

That is correct, the sensors would cut off heat not the motor. There are some sensors that kill power to the entire unit but it wouldn't come back on later as they are one time fuses.

New motor is installed, runs great, but now no heat.

The new motor came with a jumper harness to connect the old harness to the new motor connections, could it be in the harness?

All the connection seem tight, took it apart, pushed on the wiring harness, did not move, was snapped in, decided to try again and it works. Something must have been loose.
