My GE Profile Washing Machine is making a loud thumping noise during agitation. see video below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-37HSLgs2A&feature=youtu.be

I though it was bad washer dampening strap so I replaced those 4 but the issue is still present. I do see some sagging of the motor rubbing the base and that I suspect is the tension rods needing to be replaced. but I think I may have multiple problems. unless the tension rods being replaced will resolve the issue I have. Any Suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Your model is one that is on the list of models prone to getting the "sagging apron" problem which causes the low parts of the suspended assembly to hit the bottom panel. There is a kit for fixing this problem. Also, looks like you have a bad mode shifter as the basket should not be moving around like that while in agitation cycle. Check the error code LED on the right side of the circuit board on top of the motor. If it flashes 4 times, pauses, then 4 times again over and over, the mode shifter is bad.

Thanks Fairbank56 - i just replaced the motherboard due to it failing is it worth repairing these 2 parts or just look in to getting a new washer? if i replace the apron that will resolve hopefully the sagging and squealing, but the thumping noise if it is the shifter. how long do you think it will last with this? im trying to way my costs being put into this.

I would cut my losses but the only decent top loading washing machine left on the market is made by Speed Queen. They are top quality with a good warranty but expensive. Be prepared to spend $800-$900.
