Maytag electric dryer DE412 will not shut off.

  • Heats and dries just fine on both auto and permanent press cycles.
  • Door switch works (it will shut it off).
  • Timer cycle never quite gets all the way to 0 is what it looks like to me. And if I force it to 0, it still runs.
  • Only the door switch will stop it. Once stopped, I can close the door and it will stay stopped.
  • Next step in my diagnostic is to use the timed dry cycle, but I haven't done that yet.
  • Nor have I tried air fluff.
