In a matter of a day or two, the frig temp. has gone from low 30's (a little too cold at times) to 45-50°, I haven't check freezer temp but it seems warmer too. Could it be the self-defrost timer ? It seems like it has done this in the past, but always kind of self-corrected before long.
- The compressor seems to cycle on and off normally. (i.e. doesn't run all the time) - Fan blows cold air into freezer.

Here are your parts Parts for TBX21Z - AppliancePartsPros.comThe given model number seems to be missing several digits so you will have to choose a unit from the Matching Model Numbers section. I doubt it is a dfrost problem. If it was the compressor would run all the time except when the unit goes thjrough a defrost cycle. Since the unit is cycling I wouls say that the most likely culprit is the control thermostat. |

Thanks Denman, I have the thermostat to max. setting now "9", and coincidentally it did NOT kick on the compressor when I moved it there from "5". Does that also point to the stat? Is there a way to test it before ordering a replacement? And are you referring to what they call the "Temp Control" ? $125 + or - ?? I may put that towards a new instead. Freezer is holding at about 10°. TBX21ZLJ Is there a way to determine date of manufacture from the serial number? HA-586890

It would not hurt to remove the cover in the freezer and inspect the evaporator coils. They should have a fairly even coating of ice on them. Also check that the fan is OK. |
