I have a Whirlpool Super Capacity Electric 465 range/oven. The surface burner indicator light is always on even when all burner dials are off. Also the left front burner is erratic. Are these interconnected? I know how to use a multimeter but not where to get started. Any ideas?

A model number may help others help you.
Find your model number - AppliancePartsPros.com

The problem is most likely one of the infinite switches.
Often each infinite switch has a switch that turns on the light.
They are wired in parallel so one of them is probably always closed.
Need a model number to find a wiring diagram so you can find it using your meter.
