I bought a used GE model TFX22JRZBWW fridge. It worked perfect for 5 days then this morning everything else works but the compressor and fans do not cut in. Where do I start to look for what could be wrong with it

Hi, thanks for asking your question here. It sounds like you have a bad defrost timer. The timer runs for 8 hours then shuts off for 30 minutes to go into defrost. It sounds like the timer isn't kicking out of defrost. The timer is located in the refrigerator section up top in the back. You can manually advance the timer by turning the dial in the middle with a flat head. If the fans and compressor are not coming on I suspect you have a faulty timer. You can purchase the part from the link below. GE Defrost Timer Click HereRefrigerator Repair Portland

I turned the defrost timer with a screwdriver and the compressor cut in, I will change the defrost timer. It appears to be the problem. Thanks for the info and help

Jim, glad you found the timer and were able to advance it. Yes, it does sound like the defrost timer is staying in defrost and not kicking out to turn the compressor and fans on. Replace the timer it will solve your no cool issue. Refrigerator Repair Portland
