Repairing metal hub/housing for bearing water seal

Hi All: I'm in need of opinions from those more knowledgeable about replacing neptune bearings. Have searched forums for similar question/problem and found no posts. My plan is to repair the heavily corroded aluminum(??) hub/housing where the bearing seal seats into. Just to be sure, I'm referring to - outer tub - inside the outer tub, looking at the area where the larger, inner bearing resides. Just in front of bearing the metal is corroded and mis-shaped to some extent. This is where the bearing seal seats into. My plan is to use JB weld in the area of greatest corrosion & while still wet insert the seal. Looks to me like there is enough original shape of the metal housing for proper seal placement. This will allow me to seat the seal squarely/uniformly & minimize the chance for leakage around the spider spindle/shaft. Is my plan plausable? Should I use something beside JB weld? I have the new bearings, seal kit 12002022, machine is apart with spin basket removed, left outer tub in cabinet. The spider support arms & the spindle are in very good condition. Need to remove outer bearing & the race for inner bearing. Willing to give this a try, knowing the price of a new outer tub or buying a new front loader washer. I've attached 2 pics. one is looking into the outer tub at the bearing/seal hub. The other pic is of the seal kit & the parts chosen(circled in red), given the fact the kit contains revised parts & older/orig parts. Either way the directions say to use the new bolt & 2 washers for attaching the pulley. Maybe others will find it helpfull. Any suggestions, please?? Thanks. crystal368 attached the following image(s):
