18 year old GE element went white hot after oven was turned off. Had to pull plug to shut it down. Is there a contactor in the temperature controller that may have welded together?

I cannot find any info on the given model number.

I am assuming that the entire element went very hot and not just part of it.

The elements are usually controlled by relays that are on the control board/timer.
