No heat. Coil did not glow. White spots on coil. And then I broke the coil.:D So I guess have to fix this first and hopefully this was the problem. Can someone point me to the specific one to buy. Do the spots on the element look like the reason why it would not glow? I think I just need the ignitor not the bracket. Photos here: Dryer Ignitor (Maytag Performa) - a set on Flickr

If you have a volt meter you can see if you're getting 120 volts at the connector where the ignitor plugs in. If you are then the old one was bad and the new one will fix it for you. If you're not getting power to the ignitor then we're going to have to start back tracking. Part number: AP4038992
