My fridge is warm and ice is building up in my freezer. I cleaned out the fridge the other day and it seemed to work for 2 days and now the fridge is warm again with more frost in the freezer. Could this be the defrost timer?. I took off the back panel to locate the defrost timer but I am unsure what I am looking at. On the left side there is a white oddly shaped piece that is located infront of a fan and on the left is the large black compressor (I think) with the copper tubing. Is the white piece the defrost timer? or is the defrost timer found somewhere else?

Your defrost timer is part of the control board behind the control panel. I would defrost the evaporator coils and check the defrost thermostat a round thing clipped to the top of the coils.
