Amana Refrigerator TRI21S4E, P1303301WE - compressor won't start. Initially found condensor fan wasn't running so I replaced it, and from reviewing several on-line articles with similar repeated clicking noise, I also replaced the relay and overload. I checked the compressor as well, resistance across pairs of posts (3+5=8) added up. Also checked each post to ground to ensure no short. I then replaced the run capacitor. Still have clicking cycle, with fans on and no compressor start. Can someone advise? Perhaps I now need to check the voltage through the system?

Sounds like you compressor is shot.
Just because the compressor windings check out OK does not mean that the compressor is good as it may have other internal problems.

You could check across the condenser/compressor fan for 120 volts.
The fan is wired in parallel with the compressor and its connection points are often easier to get at then the compressor relay.

If I follow you correctly, the fan may operate at less than 120Volts, but its a quick check to confirm the volts supplied to the compressor as well...?

Yes.
I do not know at what voltage the fan will not run but the compressor is more sensitive to low voltage.

It is a bit of a long shot as it does sound like the compressor is toast.

Thanks for your advice and time. I've read about hard start relay kits, which I gather has a capacitor to give it an extra jump to get going. Is this worth a try for this model? I suspect if I call for service to confirm my attempts and your suspicions, the tech may try this, but may only work temporarily. May be time to give up. Not worth the cost of further repair or a tech visit.

I do not have much experience with hard start kits but another regular on this forum (richappy) who has a lot of experience does not recommend them as in most case it is a long shot and it can also damage a good compressor.

I cannot say if it is worth the gamble to you, though I would not pay someone to install it.

You may want to start a new post asking about hard start and with luck richappy will reply to it.
