I have a 15 yr old sensi dry hotpoint dryer. A year ago the timed cycle stop drying - it tries but it does not heat (once in great while it will) but the sensi dry still worked
Now on sensi dry the first 4/5 loads dry great then the next 2 are sort of damp then the next 2 are good then the rest of the loads are wet- maybe it drys them maybe not
Checked the vent -clear, check continuety on thermostat-ok - checked the coils - @ 1300-1400 ohms - ok. turn on the dryer and
The ignitor glows on @ 10 seconds later the flame comes on (ignitor goes out) heATS 2/3 minutes - flame out and we repeat this cycle again once the dryer cools off.
I have no clue at this time- any help or ideas?

Replace the gas valve coils, a common problem with these syptoms.

Rich
Thanks for the help - it looked like i was going in that direction --
Even though both coils read 1300 ohms That is a false reading
and should i replace both of them

Resistance readings are useless, they will not show shorted turns. They come as a pair anyway, so just replace them.
