Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 2/6/2008(UTC) Posts: 1		The other day I did a load of laundry (electric dryer) and the drum stopped turning when the time was done, but the heater stayed on. It started to smell like something was burning and the dryer was really hot when I finally figured out that it was the dryer that smelled. Today I figured out that if the timer is anywhere but in the off position, the heating coil comes on, even if you don't push "start". Is this a timer problem or something worse?

Remove the rear panel, remove the wires from the heating element terminals and check for continuity across each of the terminals and the ground. If the readings are other than "∞", replace the heating element. - The part number for the heating element is AP3094254 Gene.
