Freezer fan blowing but fridge and freezer not getting cold. Hear a clicking noise every few seconds

Below are your parts, includes a wiring diagram. Sounds like it is either a compressor starter or a compressor problem. Below is a good site with info on how to check the compressor windings. How To Fix a Refrigerator - Appliance Repair Guide - ACME HOW TO.comNote that the winding resistance tests can tell you if a compressor is bad, it does not tell you that the compressor is good. It may have other internal problems which are preventing it from starting. The only reliable way to check the starter (PTC) is to replace it. This also applies to the capacitor. The test does not put working voltages on the capacitor and sometimes they fail at higher voltages. The capacitors are very reliable but sometimes they can fail. |
