I recently noticed a re-occuring issue with my Maytag Performa Gas Oven when I preheat at 370 or above. At some point, as the temperature increases, the stove makes a "fart" noise on and off. The trouble is that it has difficulty pre-heating to higher temperatures. Sometimes when it does preheat, it does the "fart" thing again when it is trying to maintain temperature. I am including a youtube link so that you can see and hear what is going on here ( http://youtu.be/adERFN5LKds). If someone knows what needs to be fixed, please help. I am not looking forward to replacing the entire oven. Thanks all!

HI.
What is the complete model and serial number of the unit? You need to check the oven igniter amps draw. Use a clamp on amp meter over one of the igniter wires. If the reading is below 3.2 amps - you should replace the igniter. If it is good - the safety gas valve is most likely defective. For the assistance with the part numbers we need the range model.
Simon.
