Hi, I purchased this Jenn Air Updraft Gas Slide-In Range at a "scratch and dent" store. It appeared not to have ever been used, as was claimed, and had some minor cosmetic damage. It worked fine the first couple of years (except for the cheap plastic knobs coming loose!), but now we have some issues:
Some of the buttons have stopped working, and the malfunctioning buttons all seem to be in a line after a certain point. All buttons before "Set up" work fine.
- Set up
- Convect
- Clean
- Rapid Preheat
- More Options
2. Large double left-front burner won't ignite, unless lit manually. And once lit manually, it continues to make the igniting "clicking" noise the entire time it's on. Very annoying, so we don't use it anymore. Bummer, since it's the one we like to use the most.
Other than that, everything works fine. Other burners all light when turned on as well as oven and broiler. Thanks so much in advance for any help you can provide. Paul Briant

Hi Paul,
The model number you posted is incorrect. Please verify and repost it.

OK-- got the right model number. It's JGS8860BDP
Part# for panel is 8507P229-60
I have replaced the igniter in the past, by the way, and it didn't solve the problem with that. Still does the same thing. So must not be the igniter itself that's the problem. Just clicks and clicks when we use that left front burner.

Hi Paul, The part you replaced is not the control panel. This is the control board which probably has nothing to do with the buttons problem. You have to order and replace the control panel. In regards of the ignition problem very likely it caused by a bad spark module, especially if the new igniter did not fix it. You may want to check the wire between the igniter and the spark module first. - The control panel Part number: 5760M339-60

Thanks Gene-- Fortunatly, I had not yet purchased that other part that you advised me was wrong. That was the part number Jenn-Air told me was for the control panel. I'm glad I didn't order from them, since it's the wrong part and they don't take any returns! Just ordered both parts from here, which saved some money as well. I'll post again when I get the parts. I may need some help. Paul Originally Posted by: Gene Hi Paul, The part you replaced is not the control panel. This is the control board which probably has nothing to do with the buttons problem. Hi Gene, I got the parts and installed them. Panel works perfectly. The part you called "Spark Module" (labeled "Gas Re-Igniter", but it is indeed the part you posted photo of), however, did not fix the problem, so I'm returning it. When we turn on the left front burner, it won't ignite, but it keeps clicking and sparking non-stop. In fact, all the burners spark. Not sure if that's normal for them to all spark when you try to light one of them. We can light left-front burner manually, but it keeps clicking and sparking the whole time it's on. It seem like it doesn't recognize that it's lit, so just keeps trying to ignite.
Any other ideas? Thanks, Paul

Anybody out there? I ordered the Spark Module (called Gas Re-Igniter on part label), but it did not fix the problem. Still won't ignite on that burner, and if we light it with a match, it just keeps clicking and sparking the whole time we are cooking:( . Please let me know if you have any other ideas to try. Hi Paul,
Have you checked the wire between this igniter and the spark module?
Gene.

Shoot-- I was hoping to avoid having it take it apart to that extent. I guess the whole top will have to come off to access that.

Unfortunately this is probably the only way to do it right.
Gene.
