I recently had a power surge when I started my washer. Turns out the power supply from the power company had come loose. Now the washer doesn't work. I jumped the lid switch but the washer still did't work. I've been looking for a fuse or in-line fuse link but can't find one. According to your parts department, there is no fuse for my model and that I need to replace the control panel. I'm hesitant of buying one if because I'm not sure it will fix the problem. Is this my only option? Thanks.

Hi.

To check the control board :

Get an access to the board. Locate the two plugs - 6 and 11 pins.
With washer plugged in use the multimeter to check for 120VAC between the RED pin1 of the 6 pin plug and WHITE pin 4 of the 11 pin plug.
If there is no correct voltage - replace the control board

Part number: AP3183283

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Controls & Backsplash parts for GE S4200B0WW - AppliancePartsPros.com

P.S. You can return any unused parts back to APP even if you installed them.

Post the results.

Thank you for the helpful reply Simon. I don't have a multimeter to check the voltage nor do I know how to use one even if I did have one. All I have is a circuit tester with the alligator clip on one end and the "pen" with a light on the other. Is there any kind of testing I can do with that? Also, are there any other parks (hopefuly cheaper :) ) that could be bad? And if so, how do I test them? At this point, I'll probably just buy a new control board because if the machine still doesn't work, I can return it for a refund. >

Replaced the control board and the washer worked! I was simple install except trying to disengage two of the retaining clips to remove the harness (ended up breaking the old retaining clips -- thankfully the new board has the locking clip). On another note, I ordered the part Thursday afternoon using standard delivery (was told I would receive it Monday) and I was pleasantly surprised to receive it Friday -- just one day!

I wish there would have been a cheaper fix, but thanks for the help!:)
