Found my clothes sopping wet and a burning smell at end of washing cycle.
Checked and found that it is still agitating, draining, and spinning (only when there is NO CLOTHING).

When I put it on spin cycle with clothes, you can hear the motor? trying to run, but nothing is happening (I am assuming where the burning smell is coming from). When I take the clothes out, and try spinning, it seems to get going fine.

I checked underneath and did not see any "rubber shavings" as I have seen on other a "coupling" problem.

PLEASE HELP! I am a teacher and am barely surviving month to month, I can't afford buying a new one or costly repairs.

Hi.

Check two things first.

Remove the agitator and check if the drive block still has the grooves and engaging the spin tube.

The drive block Part number: 389140
Part number: 389140

Next, if the drive block is good - replace the clutch Part number: 285785
Part number: 285785

Use the video clip for the instructions.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Agitator, Basket and Tub parts for Whirlpool LSB6500PW0 - AppliancePartsPros.com

Post the results.

Simon.
