As seems to have happened with many Thermador SMW272 units, the display on our control panel does not illuminate any more. I found a prior thread (http://forum.appliancepartspros...-display-clock-temp.html) that helpfully pointed me to where I can buy the Oven Display Repair Kit (Bosch 702450 Oven Display Repair Kit - AppliancePartsPros.com)

The problem is that I don't know how to access the control panel. Instructions that I saw seemed to be for a different Thermador that had a double oven (such as the C302); the SMW272 has a microwave (not an oven) under the control panel. So, unlike the C302, the SMW272 doesn't have any easily accessible screws at the bottom of the control panel.

Do I need to remove the frame around the microwave in order to access screws for the control panel? If so, how is it removed (without breaking anything!)?

Is there a way to slide out just the control panel, or do all the units (control panel, microwave, warming drawer and oven) have to be slid out from the cabinet?

I have not found a SMW272 Service Manual online, only one for the C302 and related models.

I would really appreciate any suggestions. I believe that I can do the repair myself if I can just figure out how to access the inside of the control panel.

By the way, while the control panel can still successfully control/operate the oven, it seems that the oven is taking longer to reach the desired temperature (or at least, longer to signal that the temp has been reached). It seems that replacing the relay board may also help with this issue. Does that sound right?
