I have a Maytag stacked washer drier, the other day the washer stopped working. After looking on this forum I found the location of the 1amp fuse, replaced it and voila I was a hero for ten minutes in my house. Once the tub was full it stopped. I've tried the spin cycle and different temp. settings but nothing else is a go, the fuse is still good and if I manually drain it , it will re-fill. Anyone got any ideas on where to go next?

looking at another tread I've pulled out the switch assembly, and got things going by holding the lid switch manually, I cleaned the contacts, put it back together and blew the 1amp fuse. Reading the other thread I saw comment that the switch assembly has it's own fuse(where is it) and what test do I perform to see if the lid switch or the check switch are still good?

The lid switch assembly on your washer does not have it's own fuse, it just comes with one when you order a new one. The only fuse is the one you replaced on the left side of the cabinet. You either have a bad lid switch assembly or it's not engaging properly. There are two switches in the assembly, the lid switch and the check switch. It is designed to blow the fuse if the lid switch contacts are stuck closed. If they are stuck closed, as soon as you open the lid, when the check switch opens, a short circuit is placed across the fuse and it blows. A blown fuse prevents the water inlet valves from operating which basically renders the washer inoperable. Eric
