Checking various dishwasher components for continuity allows you to identify a failed component. For example, you can test your dishwasher water valve solenoid, float switch, and other dishwasher parts.

My dishwasher's problems occurs when I select a cycle on the front of the dishwasher - nothing happens (even after I replaced the touchpad on the door of the dishwasher).

I've read the article posted online, but it does not tell me how to test the continuity for the touchpad on the front of the dishwasher, nor the continuity for the control board on the inside of the dishwasher.
