We have a Maytag french door/freezer on the bottom refrigerator that isicing up in the back of the freezer and the fridge is not cold. I have beensearching the internet and I'm thinking it maybe the defrost thermostat. Am Ion the right track? And if so, where is this located and what is the best way toaccess this part and test? Would love to make this repair a DIY.

Hi. First you need to check if the freezer door gasket is tight all around. If it is remove the rear panel in the freezer to open the evaporator coils. Are the coils blocked with snow completely or only the sides where the air ducts are? You will need the multimeter to check the continuity of the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. They both should show continuity.(The thermostat must be ice cold when tested.) The defrost thermostat Part number: 67003426
