This is a top frig, bottom freezer model with digital read outs. The frig has been running too cold, freezing eggs for example. I DID also have a small ice build up in the freezer. The light switch had just a tad of ice on it so it wouldn't turn on the light, but so little that moving the switch by had removed the ice.

I removed the freezer back, and there was a bit of ice on the copper line right where it goes into the condenser. I melted it with a hair dryer.

I have verified the digital read out with a freezer thermometer. It basically matches the read out at 0 for freezer and 39 for frig.

I have replaced the dampener 2 times. Both times it was working correctly, but making a grinding noise. It still appears to be working correctly. And the unit does not seem to be running continuously. From reading other posts, it seems I may need to change the thermistor. My concern is with the digital read out showing the correct temp, could the thermistor be bad?

Also, do I change the freezer or the refrigerator thermistor?

Finally, can someone tell me how to access the self diagnostics? I haven't been able to find this info for my model. Or is there a link available to a factory manual?

THANK YOU AS ALWAYS. This board is AWESOME.

Was thanked: 2 time(s) in 2 post(s)
I would replace the fridg thermistor and see what happens. I usually use a laser thermometer to check the freezer output temperature. If temperature too low, it can cause problems.

I'll have to find my laser. What temp should the freezer output be around?

Will order the frig thermistor today. THANK YOU!!
