I have a Maytag side by side MSD2356AE with 2 issues: 1.) The arm will not stop the unit from making ice. #2.) Every so often the ice maker will not shut off the fill function and runs all over the inside of the freezer with enough water to rain into the basement  . Then it will work fine for a few weeks and then does it again. I replaced the valve unit some time ago thinking this would solve the issue. It did not. Did I get a bad valve or is the issue with the ice maker unit itself? Most of the time it works fine, until the next flood:(. I want to be able to trust it again. Are these two issues related?

Here are your parts Replacement parts for MSD2356AE models | AppliancePartsPros.comDid I get a bad valve or is the issue with the ice maker unit itself? I doubt you have a bad valve as it would be unusual for a replacement valve to have exactly the same problem as the old one. I would replace the ice maker. Check that the bail arm in the parts is the same as yours. If you click on a part's picture a new page will open with more info about it.
