Hey guys, I've got a Whirlpool washer that won't agitate or spin. I can hear the motor start to hum when I switch it to wash or spin, but nothing happens, or it just moves a tiny bit. I check around and read up on a few things it might be (motor coupling, lid switch, motor capacitor) and started there.
I replaced the motor coupling (it was worn but not broken)
Checked the lid switch with a multimeter, it checked out fine.
Replaced the capacitor, and still it won't work.
After replacing the capacitor though, I was able to get a little more movement on the spin cycle and it agitated almost a full turn, but it would only work if I manually pressed down the lid switch. Then it would move for just a sec and then stop. Hit the lid switch again and it would move a tiny bit. After doing this for a minute or two, I started smelling something burning and it completely quit doing anything. I left it alone for a few minutes and went back to it, and it's just like it was at the beginning. I can hear the motor hum but nothing moves.
In case you were wondering, it will fill up with water, it just won't do anything after that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
