My dryer works with heat as long as I hold the rotary start switch to the right but stops when I let it spring back. I installed the new switch to no difference. If it seems most likely motor problem and before I attempt to replace motor, could you kindly reflect on my idea that I devise a mechanism that will hold the switch to the right and that I can activate at the beginning of every drying cycle? Will this won't damage the dryer and the timer will stop the machine at the end of the cycle?:)

The push or turn to start switch is built that way for several purposes, among them safety.

I understand your desire to save the cost of a new motor, and it seems like what you propose should work and I have seen machines jerry rigged this way with a toggle switch, but do not do it. It is not a safe way to operate your machine.
