Hi,
I hope to get some insight on the reoccuring problem on my Mom's oven/range. The thermal fuse (TOD 9759242) always trips (opens) every time she uses the self-clean function. The blower (9759320) stills blows strongly.
The design is clearly flawed since the oven cannot remove the heat without properly without tripping the thermal fuse.
Instead of replacing the thermal fuse every time the self-clean function is used, can I substitute this thermal fuse with a resettable thermal fuse (assuming that the resettable fuse has the same operating characteristics and thermal cutoff)? If I can, do you have any suggestions on which resettable fuse to use?

The best solution in my opinion is not to use the self clean at all. Any alterations to the manufacturer design makes you responsible for any possible fire or other problems.

I thought of the same thing also. Here is what I found as a manual reset thermal fuse. P/n TOD60T25. Temp range same as original 130C/266F.
The problem is not the fuse but the blower motor. It doen not pull out hot air properly. KA knows this and supplies a different blower-p/n 9759320.
I ordered one and will try that. Until then I carefully drilled a 1/16" hole in the back of the thermal fuse and re-set it myself. Spending $40-$50 for theremal fuse is silly.

REMOVE IT FROM UNIT-DO NOT DO THIS WITH POWER APPLIED.
Drill 1/16" dia hole on side opposite of silver disc.
Scribe an "X" on plastic part to locate center.
USING A DRILL BIT IN YOUR HAND-CAREFULLY SPIN THE DRILL UNTIL IT BREAKS THROUGH THE PLASTIC. Use a tooth pick to carefully push the contact back up. Vola!
If this keep tripping after cleaning-REPLACE THE BLOWER ASSEMBLY. Make sure you vacuum out front grill for better air flow.

Has she noticed that the oven cooks things faster than it says in the recipe?
If yes then the oven may need calibrating.
It is hotter than what the display says.

Good Luck! Worked like a charm! Thermal fuse got reset. Shame on manufacturer for the clumsy design.
