Over the weekend the fridge/freezer started to make a buzzing noise every once so often and it also completely stopped cooling both fridge and freezer:confused:
I think over the past couple of years the fridge was getting noisier when it kicks in..
But the weekend it stopped working.. Every now and again there is a "click".. then a soft "bzzzzzzzz" humming noise for a while, then another "click"..
I'm guessing its the compressor.. everything else works, the water dispenser, etc. works (not cold though)
Any advice?

Sounds like the compressor start device has gone bad.
What is the complete model number of the refrigerator?
Gene.

Its a Kenmore fridge/freezer
Model: 596.50392001 Mfg No: P50392000W0
It makes a click, (like a relay engaging) and then a bzzzzzz noise for 10 seconds, then another click.. then silent..

The start device Part number: AP4369220
If it would not help, then the compressor itself has to be replaced. Gene.

So I think they sent me the wrong part ?? This is what they sent when I ordered the AP4369220 part: On the LEFT is the original.. (its 2 seperate pieces) and on the RIGHT is new replacement all-in-one piece.. The compressor side will fit just fine (Pic 1), but the wiring harness is completely different on the back? (Pic 2) What do I connect where and how??

i manufactured a wiring harness and connected the part..
same problem... loud "click" then a "bzzzzzzzzz" and then another "click"..
the condenser fan is and always has been running.. and the loud buzz is for sure coming from inside the compressor :(
any chance it might be the capacitor?
i guess this fridge is toast and its time for another one.

The correction is to replace the compressor. Looks like it's time for anew fridge. You have to call the APP customer service for the return instructions. Gene.
