Hey Rich thanks for the reply i went ahead and installed the board like you said and the compressor came on instantly. The fridge seems to working fine now is there a reason the board failed? should i be checking anything else that might of caused this board to go bad, or was it just the boards time to quit?

It would help to put a 1000joule surge protector on the wall outlet, get one at Wall Mart designed for appliances

Hi there,
I used this thread to diagnose and attempt a repair on my KitchenAid refrigerator (Model KSBS25INSS01). Based on the fact that I got a voltage reading at the fan connector, I ordered a fan (also from this site, Order # 2524374). Got the fan installed today. When I refit the connector, the fan spun for about 1 second, then quit. I unplugged the fridge, let it sit for about 10 seconds, then replugged. No fan, even when the compressor is running. The door frame is now getting hot again.
Circuit board?
Chris

Seems like a bad control board AP3773712 located behind the control panel.

Never mind. I took down the control panel so I could see the control board. I've just ordered one.

I installed the new control board yesterday afternoon. After plugging the fridge back in, when the compressor kicked on, so did the fan. Good.
Today the fan quit running again, so basically my new fan + new board got me through about 24 hours.
Is there something else to look at? Did I get a bad board?
Chris

Yoy have another control board near the compressor AP4411082 Generally if it has a power relay on the board, it controls the compressor and condensing fan. You can check the schematic to find which board sends power to the condensing motor.

Ok, so I'm sitting behind the fridge, taking off the back cover of the compressor control panel unit and I notice the condenser fan randomly turning on and off. While the compressor is running, the fan seems to just randomly turn on, run for a few seconds, then turn off.
Still the 2nd control board down at the compressor?
Chris
