The large elect. element on the stove top sparked and tripped a breaker while boiling a large pot of water.

I found the short was the old burner, but when i plug in a new burner element it will only come on high no matter what the dial is set at.
All the other burners work fine.

Any suggestions?

brad, you need to replace that burner switch, and that will do it. tom
