I am a student and I charged a home refrigerator that wasn't cooling only 1/4 of the evaporator was cold but first I changed the filter drier and after that it is doing the same thing....is there a chance that the compressor is not pumping properly?

What is the model number of the refrigerator?
How did you replace the filter-dryer?
How did you charged the system?
What type of Freon did you use?

Well first I don't have the model # I braced a new filter drier but defore I did this and when the system was still open at te metering device and the liquid line I put some pressure on the system to see it was't plug and air was coming on both sides then I braced the filter drier and pressure tested it again and it had no leaks then I vaccum the system and put 4.5 oz of 134a refrigerant using a dial a charge cylinder and it is not cooling only have of the evaporator coil is cold
what I think is that the compressor is not pumping correctly but I can't check the discharge pressure because I did't put a line tap on the discharge line.

The name plate with the model number and amount of Freon being charged in the system should be in the fresh food compartment. Possible you undercharge it. Also you have to check the pressure on both sides using a pressure gauges. It helps to check the correct charge and let you see how the compressor works.
Gene.
P.S. In most states such job requires a special license.
