After about a year of use, my Kenmore stopped working completely -- no lights, nothing. I checked the outlet at the wall and have power. I read about others having the thermal fuse burn out on other Kenmore's but mine does not seem to have that part from what I can tell. There's not much under the cover -- a control board, the on/off switch, and the detergent door mechanism. I'm tempted just to try a new control board, but at $150, I'd rather troubleshoot first, but can't find any info about this unit on the net. Any help?

Well, I was able to confirm that the latch switch has continuity when the latch closes, and is open otherwise. I can't figure out the on/off switch however, since it has 7 wires coming off it?

did you get the dead Kenmore fixed and may I ask what solved the problem for you?
we have kenmore elite 630.16302401 and one night it worked fine and the next day it would not come on at all.

I hired a repairman who quickly found the problem. He took the front covers off and found the main power wires were all corroded and powdery (from getting wet). He cut back the damaged portion of the wires, capped them back together, and zip tied the wires where they would stay dry. Has been running fine ever since.

I appreciate your reply. We have not opened it up yet but when we do I will post what we find. Others may have this too. Thanks.
