I have a Hotpoint electric oven that is getting extremely hot. I have replaced the thermostat and problem remains. Also the oven indicator light now will not go off. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

How did you connect the new thermostat?

What did you mean when you said it's getting extremely hot? Did you measure the temperature inside the oven?

Gene.

Gene, I used another stove as a guide as to how to reconnect the thermostat. Before that I placed a thermometer inside the oven to get an accurate reading. With the oven set on 250 I viewed the thermometer and it was reading around 500 degrees. I've replaced the element inside, as well as the thermostat switch with no change. I do not have a troubleshooting guide or schematic to help with this problem so thanks for whatever help you can provide.
