Fridge is not cooling on either side. The freezer has some snow in the back but not cooling well at all.

Pull the back freezer panel and check the frost pattern. If totally frosted over, you have a defrost problem. If only partially frosted, you have system problems.

I have a G.E. Monogram 48" side by side refrigerator model number ZISS48DCASS, Serial Number VZ035863. In the last few weeks the three position "water,crushed,cubed ice" switch on the panel called "SmartWater" would dispense water but occasionally you had to jiggle the switch to get cubed or crushed ice. The problem got progressively worse and now it seldom works no matter how much one jiggles the switch. I suspect that the control board part number AP2071638 has failed, has a bad switch, or a loose solder joint.  I am having trouble getting information on how to remove the board. I removed two screws at the top of the dispenser and removed a plastic ring molding from the front of the unit. Behind that there was a panel with six Philips head stainless screws inside of the rectangular opening in the door that seems too small to remove the unit. Do I need to remove the screws to get to the board? Does the plastic panel inside the refrigerator need to come off to get to it? I need to know how to remove the panel to get to the board, can you help? By the way I have a separate CB for the refrigerator on my electric panel so I can cut all power to the refrigerator while working on the board without affecting anything else. I would prefer not having to leave the freezer door open, or power off for more than ten to twenty minutes or so at a time to keep things frozen. There must be a way to get to this board easily, but I can't find it on the web and G.E is no help. You may post on this site or e-mail me at banspam@verizon.net, or call me at (941) 722-8287. As far as I can see, you can access the pc board by taking out the screws you mentioned. I have re-soldered many pc boards, most times it's a power item like a relay that unsolders itself, also look for micro cracks.
I have never worked on one of these, if concerned, you might want to re-post for Gene, the real experienced one on these, just include your model # so he can access the parts site easily.

Yes I am trying to post to Gene too. The two screws at the front just release the plastic frame around the unit and expose a square hole in the door behind which ther is another panel with six screws somewhat behind the edge of the opening in the door. It looks like a very tight fit and that one might have to angle the panel to get it out. I am not sure that is the way to do it and I need an opinion from someone like Gene who has worked on this machine, or has a repair instruction for it. If you know how to get hold of Gene pass my note on to him. Thanks Dave
