The dryer works but the timer goes in reverse. Do I have to replace the timer?

Yes, the timer turns counter clockwise. This occurs in the auto dry cycle. The dryer will dry but since it goes in reverse the time is shortened. Not sure what happens in the other cycles.

You probably have a black plastic housing on your timer and the timer motor screws on the back of it. There is a motor mounted non the gear train, that has been polled to run backward, you will need to replace it. Unfortunately they do not sell it, need to buy a new timer unless you can get one used. Most timer motors of the age dryer where the same and turned the same direction.
